Emotional Resilience

Emotional resilience is a profound state of equanimity where we are calm and composed especially in a difficult situation. It is having the ability to stay balanced, grounded and in control when life is challenging, demanding and problematic. Emotionally resilient people can manage themselves through all the ups and downs of life. The art of developing emotional resilience involves physical, psychological, and social elements plus a set of specific attributes and approaches pertaining to the way emotionally resilient people conduct themselves in the world.

They have a high-level coping mechanism which enables them to act efficiently and effectively when making life choices. They have an aptitude for intrinsic motivation combined with strength, self-belief, self-awareness and compassion, and an advanced cognitive way of thinking.

People with emotional resilience take care of themselves physically by moving their bodies to gain strength and flexibility, take care of their health, eat well, hydrate, and get adequate sleep, and as a result, they have energy and vitality.

Emotionally resilient people possess the characteristics of self-expression, show good judgment, have good problem-solving skills, are emotionally aware, feel good about themselves as a person, are able to focus, and apply thinking and reasoning to proactive choices. They are mindful and adaptable about themselves and their decisions. They think about the greater good of a situation and ride through each challenge in a proactive manner.

From a social perspective, emotionally resilient people are very likeable. They cooperate, care about the welfare of others, are effective communicators with good people skills, have positive interpersonal relationships and are community-oriented.

Emotional resilience is a progressive state of being, which shifts with the typical changes that occur in maintaining the flow of everyday life. Resilient people have the ability to internally drive themselves to adapt and formulate responses to life’s challenges. Establishing the essential elements of emotional resilience allows us to align our mind, body, and emotions, and feel like we are in control of our lives and happy with our decisions. Being resilient shifts our energy to a positive state, and our approach to all our choices then creates a positive result.

Emotional resilience has a ripple effect on all areas of our life and integrating well-being, mindfulness, and traversing life in a calm and conscious way, brings new energy, and new ways of thinking, feeling, and acting.
